Combat Canvas at Good Day Sunshine Cafe!

My "Finished" (cough,cough) work!

Had a blast on Saturday at the first Combat Canvas event at the High Street Block Party in South Surrey. We had 45 minutes to create something on a 16x20 canvas.

 Since my typical work is highly abstract and consists of layers upon layers, I chose to do something totally frivolous and fun  for this event. I used paint markers and all sorts of mixed media materials and went with a 1960s  Judy Jetson (lol) / Beatles theme.  Come see it in person at the Good Day Sunshine Cafe.  100% of my silent auction bids go to the Semiahmoo Arts Council.

Combat Canvas!

Tomorrow, Saturday August 23, I'm taking part in a fast and furious 1 hour painting event at the Shops at High Street in South Surrey.  It's the second annual High Street block party and there'll be lots of fun things to do.
 I'll  just be playing and since we have just 60 minutes won't be painting in my usual style. I'll  be the one finger painting and doodling. It's going to be so much fun!
 Remember to visit the Good Day Sunshine Cafe. They make the best coffee in town! Come out between 11-noon. See you there!

As I look out my kitchen window this  autumn morning I see the ever changing colours of a small maple tree. Reminds me of the tones in this painting created a few years ago.

A Little Piece of Art

I took a quick pic this afternoon of this little piece I recently completed.  The sun was streaming into my (also small) studio. My camera isn't the greatest so the texture and little metallic details don't show through as well as I'd like, but trust me, in real life it's kind of cool. I like doing these little paintings   (6"x6") while I am working on larger work and a bonus is they are much more affordable to the collector! This one is $140.

Borderline

Today I picked up a few copies of Spotlight on the Arts Magazine. I am happy and honoured to have been chosen as the featured artist for the month of April- ( page 16).
The artwork they published is a bit of a mash-up of styles as some of the work goes back several years and I am currently working in a much more abstract way. Anyway I hope you all have a chance to check it out.
This is my latest piece. I'm calling it 'Borderline' :)
It's quite gorgeous in real life and simply glows at certain times of the day depending on the type of light hitting it.
